Subject: Assessing Quality of Dairy Commercial Feeds in Meru, Tharaka Nithi, and Embu Counties.

BACKGROUND E4Impact Foundation is part of a consortium implementing The Economic Recovery to The Impact of Covid-19 on Agri-Food Value Chain in Kenya Project. This is a three (3) years project funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS).The other implementing Partners are AVSI Foundation and the local County Governments of Meru, Tharaka Nithi and Embu. The goal of the project is to improve the socio-economic status and recovery of a minimum of 15,000 smallholder dairy farmers from thirty (30) selected producer-farmer groups in the three (3) counties by enhancing Agri-Producer Cooperatives/groups to increase production, job creation, incomes, and food security. Essentially, the project has the following three key objectives:
  1. Production and income levels of small holder farmers rebuilt and restored.
  2. Agri-Producers Cooperatives leadership, management, accountability, storage and processing capacity reinforced.
  3. Access to structure in-put and out-put market, coordination and networking of Agri-food value chain actors improved.
OBJECTIVE OF THE CONSULTANCY The objective of this consultancy assignment is to develop and customize training materials to be used as a guide during training by the selected dairy producer groups participants.
SCOPE OF WORK
The short-term consultancy involves development and customization of training materials in the following six 6 Modules:

Development of the upstream value chain: links with small producers and with suppliers of inputs and services the upstream value chain Strengthen the competitive advantage, Challenges and limits of engagement, Building an integrated production model, Economic analysis of the upstream model
Development of the downstream value chain: distributors and value-added companies Identification of key players, how to develop win-win deals, Identification of local and international commercial channels, Economic analysis of the downstream model
Construction of sustainable business models Business Model Canvas, Revenue model, Costs analysis, Review of strategic alliances, Social and environmental impact
Product development and promotion Distinctive value, Typical customer, Quality, Brand, Regionality
Economic projections Development of the income statement, Evaluate cash flow, Verification of financial needs
EXPECTED OUTPUTS/KEY DELIVERABLES
  • Development and customization of training materials in six modules as outlined in scope of work.
  • Provide a soft copy of the six modules in Word and PowerPoint presentation, written in English after approval by E4Impact Foundation.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • Development and customization of training materials in six modules as outlined in scope of work.
  • Provide a soft copy of the six modules in Word and PowerPoint presentation, written in English after approval by E4Impact Foundation.
  • A Master’s degree from a recognized Institution of higher learning.
  • More than five years of demonstrated success in developing training manual/materials for the cooperatives or self-help groups.
  • A copy of your curriculum vitae.
  • Excellent computer skills: MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Publisher etc.
  • Knowledge of business solutions and demonstrated experience in helping businesses improve their operations and activities.
  • Good communication skills (written and spoken).
